There is so much that can be done right now.

It's time to shake things up in the city. Break the stalemate, get things moving, and take big steps towards progress. As early as the next election period, we can create an easier life for citizens, a simpler everyday life, and a more efficient city. There is so much that can be done right away.

Reykjavík is facing urgent challenges that require immediate action. The housing crisis is growing, traffic delays are increasing, waiting lists for children are getting longer, and indecision in operations is increasing. The policies of the city authorities need to be fundamentally overturned and the citizens need to be heard. The projects cannot wait, they need to be solved immediately.

Time for action, not planning

In the coming weeks, the Independence Party will present how the party intends to solve the city's problems and frame those solutions within a clear timeframe. No vague future solutions to modern problems - no promises that are postponed or forgotten. Voters deserve to know exactly what they are getting into. The first promise is: We promise nothing we cannot keep.

For too long, voters have been saddled with lofty promises that turn out to be unfunded, untimed, and unrealistic. We intend to break that habit and present priorities that are financially realistic, timed, and designed to deliver visible results for citizens – now.

We are going to open a daycare for the youngest children in collaboration with the largest workplaces in the city - immediately. We are going to get green lights more often with synchronized traffic lights - immediately. We are going to stop pet projects and reduce the number of middle managers - immediately. We are going to ensure more efficient snow removal and street sweeping - immediately. We are going to speed up the Miklubraut corridor so that construction can begin - immediately in the next election period.

Our election promises in this fight will thus not be empty plans - but a clear list of actions. What and when. We publish the list publicly and invite voters to follow the progress and emulate our success throughout the next election period. Our list of promises today will thus be our scorecard in four years.

Clear answers and realistic promises

Of course, anyone can promise change, but we know that the Independence Party is the only party that stands by it – and the only party that can actually force change. Voters deserve clear answers and realistic promises. They deserve a political party that keeps its word and shows results in action. We are ready. We know what needs to be done – and we are going to do it now.
